Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
As of late August 2014, Camp Oakhurst is hiring a part-time Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (NCTRC Required). We offer youth and adults with physical and Intellectual disabilities the opportunity to explore functional leisure outlets and community integration in a structured and safe environment designed to increase their social responses.
In this position, the TRS will work with youth and adults with physical and Intellectual disabilities, including autism, and will help train direct care workers at Camp Oakhurst in Oakhurst NJ. This is a part-time, approximately eight-hour a week position, with flexible scheduling. A competitive hourly salary will be provided, commensurate with experience.
1) Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in Therapeutic Recreation or a major in Recreation or Leisure with an option in Therapeutic Recreation.
2) Successful completion of the NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation) exam.

As of late August 2014, Camp Oakhurst is hiring a part-time housekeeper (28 hours a week) to keep the buildings and grounds at Camp Oakhurst clean and sanitary. Hourly pay will be up to $12 an hour. The position will be filled as soon as possible.

As of late August 2014, we still have openings for seasonal respite counselor positions, both male and female, for the September to June respite season. These positions require living at the camp during respite sessions, around 150 days of scheduled respite days out of approximately 250 days through June.
That said, we are always in need of weekend and holiday per diem respite counselors, and occasional other shifts available for emergency respite counsors. Not only do respite counselors live with our campers, they are responsible for their care, safety, and welfare, and assist campers with daily living skills and activity participation. We are seeking caring individuals with a desire to work with special populations. Must have a high energy level and good interpersonal skills.

We will begin hiring staff for the 2015 summer camp season in early 2015. For our summer hirings in general, staff are hired for 9-10 weeks of work starting mid-June and ending the last week of August. There is a one week training/orientation program for staff in June before campers arrive.
Summer Camp Cabin Counselors (hiring from January-June 2015)
Live in cabins with our campers and be responsible for their care, safety, and welfare. Assist campers with daily living skills and activity participation. We are seeking caring individuals with a desire to work with special populations. Must have a high energy level and good interpersonal skills.
